She must also know how to scrub her hands properly, or she must not be admitted to the operating room.  Operations through abdominal incision are performed on an operating table which makes it possible to impart to the patient a position with raised pelvis and lowered upper half of the body “trendelenburg’s position” .

Operations through the vagina are performed in a gynecological chair on an operating table, the patient lying on the edge of the table in a position with the thigh pressed against the abdomen, her lags supported under the knees by a special leg holder. If no leg holder is available, one can be made from a sheet, as shown in figs. 206, 207 and 208.
