Inflammation of the uterine appendages, i.e, the uterine tubes and the ovaries, is usually attended, during the acute stage, with sharo oains, pyrexia and sometimes hemorrhages. The patient must be confined to bed. During this stage the patient requirest rest, antibiotics, sulfa drugs, analgesics (suppositories) and application of cold to the lower part of the abdomen. After abatement of the acute symptoms suitable anti – inflammatory treatment – applications of heat is administered.Source: A.Kaplan
