To avoid errors during the examination, as well as to facilitate the latter, it is necessary to prepare the woman beforehand. Before the examination the woman must, first of all, urinate, and if she has had no stool, the intestines must be cleansed with an enema. In cases in which the woman cannot urinate voluntarily, the urinary bladder is catheterized by prescription of a physician with all rules of asepsis and antisepsis observed. If the external genitalia are soiled or covered with bloody crusts, the nurse must wash them before the examination (only by permission of the physician). The patient is examined in a special gynecological chair. Source A.Kaplan
