Syphilis of the female genitalia is characterised by an appearance of a syphilitic ulcer hard chancre on the external genitalia, in the vagina or on the cervix uteri. The external genitaliam, especially, the so called navicular fossa. Are often the sites of the primary development of this ulcer. A hard chancre not infrequently occurs on the lip of the cervix uteri. A hard chancre is a rounded ulcer with a deep floor covered with a grayish purulent film; the edges of the ulcer are even and bright – red. Syphilis requires specific treatment. Source: A.Kaplan
